Teachers who are interested in attending a workshop or conference may apply to access up to $500 from the new Elementary Teachers PD Fund. During the last round of negotiations, some changes were made regarding the process for allocating elementary PD funds to teachers. In the past, funds went directly to schools on an amount per teacher basis, but under our new collective agreement, all of the funds go into a collective “pot” and teachers may apply for up to $500 to cover registration, accommodation and parking. Teachers may also apply for funds to bring in a speaker or workshop presenter for a group of colleagues. Teachers who have already attended workshops or conferences may apply after the fact this year.
The application form, criteria and process for applying can be found on the NNDSB or the NNTL websites. The forms were also emailed directly to each elementary teacher through Board email on January 4, 2010. The next meeting of the committee to approve requests is Wednesday, March 3.
