We have received numerous calls and emails at the office with questions about Smart Find Express, the new automated call-out system for occasional teachers. The concerns have been about teachers being able to select their own occasional teacher, as many of you do now. We were assured by the Board from the outset that whatever we were already doing in terms of getting occasional teachers would be possible with Smart Find Express. However, teachers will not be able to request a specific occasional teacher when they call into the system to book a sick day. What they can do instead is to provide the principal with a list of preferred OT’s and the principal will input that information into the system. When a teacher calls in, the system will call the preferred people first. If you find that the system at your school is very different than in the past and that it is causing problems, please call the office and let us know. We have been given an opportunity for input along with the other employee groups.
